Archaeometry is placed parallel to but between archaeography and archaeology in a research scheme. Archaeometry includes both basic research and service research. A pluridisciplinary team comprised of both scientists and archaeologists is necessary, but the various national research structures may not readily permit this type of organization. -- AATA
