The contention is that archaeologists ask questions which cannot be answered, and that archaeometrists (specifically those manipulating data) answer questions that have not been asked. Problems of communication between historians, archaeologists and ethnologists, archaeometrists, and computer scientists have not been properly addressed during the last 20 to 30 years. There are compromises in dealing with data that may be due to either time or financial constraints. The recommendation is to use a personal computer rather than a mainframe or one loses sight of the information one is after. -- AATA
