One of a series of reviews on different Polish timber species covering the general character, defects, and physical and mechanical properties of ash wood. Density ranges from 0.65 to 0.68 g/cm³ (DM basis) and calorific value at 10% moisture content is 3534 kcal/kg. The wood is hard (hardness 6.5 kg/mm²) and ideal for parquet flooring. The sawn timber is used for furniture, structural uses, panelling etc., and in many industrial applications. -- AATA
