This 1985 version of recommendations first presented in 1982, was drawn up by a committee from the International Committee for Musical Instrument Collections. The recommendations provide basic guidelines for determining who shall have access to a musical instrument collection, what methods and tools of investigation and measurement are permissible, and how instruments should be tuned and prepared for playing by researchers. Included in the recommendations is a proposed Agreement Form to be signed by the person wishing access to the collection.
