Abstract
A 17th-century family portrait on canvas in Opdahl church, Norway, was examined by radiography, ultraviolet flourescence and infrared photography. It was originally painted in the 1640's with six children. Repainted, probably by the same artist, in the 1650's it pictured 11 children, the older ones adjusted both with regard to age and dress, while the parents remained practically unchanged. See also a similar case discussed in the same journal by Leif E. Plahter, AATA 22-1929. -- AATA
