This paper introduces the use of leuco materials as color formers, historically significant color precursors now useful in several modern imaging systems, including carbonless, thermal, electrolytic, and Mead Imaging's new full color reproduction system. An explanation of the underlying principles of leuco dye formation and use is given. Advantages and color range of such materials are demonstrated. -- AATA
