The Seminar of the Application of Science in Examination of Works of Art
Abstract
The five portraits of Philip IV form a tightly interrelated group of paintings. Even when the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, purchased its painting in 1904, attribution was immediately a subject of controversy. Radiography has now been used to explore this attribution problem and has demonstrated parallels in quality and technique between this painting and the other related works. -- AATA
