Abstract
The discussion presented below is based on the results of an extensive study of Egyptian faience from several museums. Unless indicated otherwise, the accession numbers cited in this paper refer to faience from the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford) collection. The analytical data were computed from x-ray fluorescence and atomic absorption spectra recorded at the Research Laboratory for Archaeology at Oxford and the Louvre Research Laboratory in Paris.
