Much data has recently become available from excavations in the People's Republic of China and from publications about the compositions of early bronze objects in the Asian area. This data bears on questions such as the early history of zinc, colors and properties of the bronzes as they were originally made, groupings of bronzes by compositions, ritual urns of bronze versus objects made to function, etc. Using ternary diagrams, the available data was presented and comparisons made. The author hopes to publish a definitive compilation of analyses of early Oriental bronzes. Computer techniques for graphic plotting of three-and four-dimensional data were also discussed.
