Abstract
The coordinated execution of archaeological research and restoration work has led to the discovery of diaguita vessels showing intentional base perforations, produced by percussion and attributed to mortuary rites not previously reported in the study of such culture. Professional restoration of these vessels, which had experienced amateur interventions, allows to state and discuss certain principles and criteria involved in the restoration of archaeological artifacts that, as the objects studied, present additional conceptual problems.
