Hilton Brown discusses the new ASTM national consensus standard D4302 Standard Specifications for Artists' Oil and Acrylic Emulsion paints (see also 21-1828). This standard which will be appearing on many containers of first quality oil and acrylic paints specifies the dominant pigment used and its lightfastness rating, a rating determined by the new method,ASTM D4303 Test Methods for Relative Lightfastness in Artists' Paints.
