Abstract
Based on the structure and mechanism of passive samplers, their applications in environment monitoring were reviewed. Discussions were made on the applicability of passive samplers in different environment, the features of excavation sites, and the requirement of monitoring harmful gases. It is concluded that passive sampling can be widely used to monitor the harmful gases at excavation sites.
