Abstract
With the advent of new developments in science and technology, 3 D scanning technology has come to be applied to the preservation of cultural relics. As a case study, the terra - cotta warriors figures excavated in pit No. 1 of the Qin Shihuang Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses were scanned. This paper introduces the basic process methods to establish a real 3 D model using 3 D laser scanning technology. The 3 D data system can be used in displays, data analysis and research. Using a real 3D digital modeling system for cultural relics, it is possible to research, reproduce and reconstruct the relics j this technique also provides new possibilities for the digital exhibition of relics, the establishment of digital museums, the appreciation of cultural relics and the preservation of cultural heritage objects.
