Abstract
The history of the shipwreck and of its recovery is given. The conservation treatments given the two brass gudgeons were first, mechanical abrasion, then washing and rinsing in deionized water, then treating small areas with a 10% solution of NaEDTA, subsequent degreasing, then wrapping in rags soaked in a 3% benzotriazole solution in water. Steps were repeated as necessary. Incralac was used for final coatings. The artifacts showed no signs of deterioration three and a half years after treatment. -- AATA
