Ancient Egyptian ceramic objects from the 18th Dynasty were analyzed chemically and microscopically. It is obvious that different groups are determined by both techniques, since chemical analysis reflects the clays used by the potters, while the microscopical study reveals the potters' technique, primarily the compounds which he used as a temper. It follows that both techniques must be applied for a correct description of ancient pottery. -- AATA
