Recent projects in which ICCROM consultants and staff have participated reflect current developments in the field. The Church of S. Margherita, Melfi, located beneath a road a downhill from adjacent farm land, presented problems with humidity control. Similar thermal problems in the tomb of the Auguri and the tomb of Orco have been exacerbated by restorations carried out earlier during this century, using concrete to reattach the paintings. The frescoes in the crypt of the Basilica of San Lorenzo Fuori le Mura required transfer because environmental control was not possible for financial reasons.
