Dehydration due to heating has damaged sacred and secular wooden buildings and objects in Norway. In 1975, the restoration studio at the Central Office of National Antiquities launched a first-aid program to rescue medieval objects from destruction but it fell short of the mark because it was understaffed. Since June, 1979, all medieval objects in Norwegian churches have been inspected and the damage registered. Regional conservation studios were in the planning stage at the writing of the article. -- AATA
