Abstract
In 1980 Pat Reeves received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts as a Museum Professional in order to investigate the major conservation centers of Eastern Europe. Her proposal was to foster an exchange of information on textile conservation philosophy and techniques in countries with whom we have little contact . She visited six countries: Finland, the USSR, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Romania; except for Poland and Finland, she found she was the only textile conservator from the US ever to have come to exchange ideas. The exchange of information and technical expertise is described as fruitful and intended by all parties to outlast this single encounter. -- AATA
