Abstract
Large format maps which are torn in a great number of small fragments are mounted on thin Japanese tissue with a mixture of wheat starch and xylose as adhesive. After that the maps are cut into pieces of the size DIN AO, which are again backed with a stronger quality of Japanese tissue (Bunko Shi). Maps of greater value which are not to be cut into pieces are mounted on a textile support and rolled for storage. See also AATA 16-1312 for more information on maps.
