Corning Glass Works scientists have developed a family of glasses that reproduce colors much like photographic film. Researchers believe the polychromatic glasses are the first photographic medium having true color permanence. Possible applications are permanent information storage for archives and museums, projection slides, portrait and scenic photographs, art reproductions, art objects, and coloring agents for paints, fillers, and glasses. The only presently known way to destroy the colors in a piece, short of destroying the piece itself, is to heat it above 400°C. (about 750°F. ). -- AATA
