Abstract
The author, a Professor at NYU, tells of her beginnings as a free lance textile restorer, first under the aegis of John Wise, a dealer and collector of pre-Columbian artifacts; then her mentor was Dr. Junius Bird, the authority on pre-Columbian textiles at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. She later met Pat Reeves through her work on a Paracas mantle presented to President Herbert Hoover by the President of Peru. They worked together from that time on and Ms. Scott describes how fruitful their relationship was. -- AATA
