Abstract
The effect of several variables on the efficiency of ceramic desalination was studied uniform glazed and unglazed ceramic tiles were impregnated with sodium chloride and the rate of removal was followed by observing weight loss. Washing variables studied were: flow, bath temperature, agitation (mechanical and ultrasonic) water revewal and water recycling through a de-ionizing resin. The most rapid desalination was achieved with ultrasonic agitation at elevated temperature. In cases were ultrasonic might cause damage, bath changes with agitation at elevated temperature is recommemded. If the water supply is limited recycling proved effective.
