Abstract
Technical collections in the Netherlands can be divided into five groups: technical museums; study collections; private collections with a museum function; collections in industry; collections with a recreational purpose. The author considers that only the first and last group have a good chance of survival. Areas covered include: building; water engineering; agriculture weapons; sledges and carriages; steam engines, railways, and tramways; cars and cycles; shipping and fisheries; air transport; time measurement gramophones; lighting; instruments and tools; photographs and films electrical equipment, radio, and television; weights and measures; office equipment; toys; interior decoration and furniture.
