Abstract
The history of tattooing, its anthropological meaning, the practice of tattooing, the pigments and dyes used in tattooing, and the removal of tatoos are described in detail. The preparation of tattooed human skin, separated from the corpse and intended to be exhibited as art, is explained and the care of collections containing such exhibits is specified.
