Abstract
A brief description of the state of the art of silk manufacture at Maison Rubelli in Venice, Italy. Techniques which had their origins in Venice fell into disuse after 1750 and were reestablished in the 19th century by the Maison Trapolin, taken over in 1858 by Lorenzo Rubelli. Historic, reproduction textiles have been woven at Maison Rubelli for museums, public buildings and historic monuments. Weaves mentioned include velour, damask, brocade, brocetelle, and lampas. -- AATA
