Abstract
It is shown on theoretical as well as experimental grounds that it is possible to draw solid wires of silver or gold to a diameter of about 0.3mm (0. 12in.) or smaller by the use of soft dies of the same metal. It is argued that the fact that no such dies have been found, or recognized, in archaeological excavations may be ascribed to the possibility that the ancient goldsmith may have remelted the precious dies for other uses. -- AATA
