Abstract
This paper reports data obtained from the interaction of low concentra tions of hydrogen sulfide with lead films covered with normal weathering products. Autoradiography is employed to determine the distribution of H<sup>35</sup><sub>2</sub>S on the surface. The amount of adsorbed hydrogen sulfide is shown to vary with relative humidity and increases markedly between 90% and 100% R.H. The mode of adsorption is discussed. High uptake on lead oxide with lower uptake on lead carbonate is proposed and the effect of high R.H. is ascribed to hydrogen bonding, facilitited by hydroxyl groups made more readily available by the presence of a water film. -- AATA
