Abstract
The occurrence of tin in the sceatta series of Anglo-Saxon coins is discussed in the light of the meager evidence so far available and results of x-ray fluorescence analysis are presented for two newly excavated coins. One contained Ag 7.0%, Sn 8.5%, Pb 2.25%, and the remainder was Cu; and a surface analysis on the second gave Ag 0%, Sn 5.5%, Pb 45% and the remainder Cu. -- AATA
