Abstract
Current computer applications, as of 1985, in archaeology are presented. The manual is written to be a practical guide to deal with problems of hardware, software, and analysis. Basic concepts of data processing and a history of data processing in archaeology are discussed. Data terminology and ways of measuring data are considered. Specific recommendations are made for equipment and programs. Coding data and entry of the information are described, as well as techniques of data storage and retrieval. Packages of interest to the archaeologist are discussed. The potential for future applications is considered. -- AATA
