Abstract
To avoid the damages caused by water in stone it is necessary to reduce the water absorption of building materials, but the water vapor permeability of these materials should not be essentially reduced. For this purpose the silicone resins seem to be the most appropriate. When both a waterrepellent treatment and a reinforcement are required, some special derivatives of silicone esters can be used. -- AATA
