Abstract
Suggests a new algorithm for solving some of the problems that arise when allocating artifacts to sources when there are large numbers of potential sources and when significant overlaps occur. Particular problems tackled are: unequal variances, missing data, and undefined sources, and the methods are tested on trace-element data for New Zealand and Pacific obsidians. -- AATA
