This is a fully annotated alkoxysilanes bibliography which includes a brief history of alkoxysilanes used in conservation of art and architecture. The literature is mainly concerned with use of ethyl silicate, partially polymerized ethyl silicate, and methyl(triethoxy)silane or methyl(trimethoxy)silane, primarily for treatment of natural stone. Brick, adobe, wood, textile and basketry treatments are also mentioned. The information is directed to practicing conservators who may be unfamiliar with the use of alkoxysilanes, but it is also suitable for scientists, engineers, archaeologists and architects.
