Abstract
This article deals extensively with the history of the granulation, the materials needed, the various techniques employed to accomplish it, and the mechanisms that govern the interrelationship among the grains and between the grains as a predetermined pattern to the metal surface. Granulation is a complex form of jewelry decoration that often goes with metalworking of a high level. It can be an indication of the degree of sophistication reached by a culture in a particular area. -- AATA
