A study of a small sample of sherds from sites near Valencia of glaze types associated with Paterna and Manises demonstrates that chemical and mineralogical data can be used to suggest different levels of technological control in these two areas. Neutron activation, microprobe and x-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron and optical microscopy, and firing experiments are discussed. -- AATA
