Abstract
Based on the limited evidence so far obtained, the code languages of Oman appear to have played a not insignificant role in the history of an area of the country formerly divided by tribal conflict between communities having one common language and, largely, one ethnic origin. In Oman, some time ago, people actually tried to create a form of language difference which may have helped to preserve, pursue and compound the tribal differences.
