A methodology for constructing a seasonality study based on incremental growth structures of the Nile catfish (<i>Clarias</i> spp. ) was developed and applied to an archaeological assemblage from the Faiyum Depression, Egypt. This study reveals that the Nile catfish was collected by terminal Palaeolithic and early Neolithic Faiyum inhabitants at two different periods of the year: late spring/early summer and summer/fall.
