Abstract
Part of a national preservation policy should deal with considering the book as an artifact as well as a source of information. If books in the Library of Congress are not sufficiently rare when their acidity and embrittlement are discovered, they are microfilmed and pulped. Cold storage is considered an impractical means to preserve at least one copy of every book printed. -- AATA
