Abstract
The bound amino acid distribution and content of a suite of fossil bones were detemnined by gas chromatography and racemization analyses. It was necessary to determine the amino acid distribution and content of all samples used for geochronological determinations and to select only those with collagen distributions, to determine Arrhenius parameters for amino acid racemization in reliably dated fossil bones to ascertain whether or not in situ derived rate constants were time invariant, and to undertake routine checks of the homogeneity of D/L ratios throughout fossil bones. -- AATA
