The author of the first of the three separate parts treats the cultural environment and importance of the Tower of the Winds. The author of the second part describes how the ground plan and front have been measured more exactly than hitherto. Based on these new measurements, it is suggested that the tower is a document of the different units of length used in antiquity, as given by the different heights of the block layers. Moreover, some of these block layers show proportions of distances similar to those of the celestial bodies, i.e., sun, moon, and the planets, as they were understood in antiquity. Since Pythagoras, it has been believed that this celestial harmony produced a certain music. In part three, the author explains the musical aspects of this with respect to the antique theory of music.
