Abstract
Examines MDF (medium density fiberboard) for stability and effect on other media. Accelerated aging (60°C for 4 weeks) with samples of AnalaR lead, copper, and silver were carried out on the material uncoated and again on MDF coated with a two pack polyurethane. Off gassing from the uncoated material resulted in corrosion of the metals tested, with the coated materials showing only slight tarnishing of copper.
