Abstract
The presence of tin in a flake of nodular graphite iron will ensure a completely pearlitic structure in the casting and this pearlite will be retained even at elevated temperatures. This means that the cast iron will have a more uniform and higher hardness. Describes work which throws light on data relating to the mechanisms involved.
