Abstract
In this method the pH value of a paper refers to its acidity or alkalinity in terms of hydrogen ion concentration of the unfiltered aqueous extract of the cut or ground paper. Both hot and cold extraction procedures are included. The hot extraction is customarily used in the paper industry for predicting the stability of papers. The cold extraction method has the advantage of being simpler and requiring less working time.
