Abstract
The behavior of porous formations of water soluble salts as a function of changes in RH and T, namely volume changes in a film of salt cement, may give rise to high stresses in a substrate, with the result that this may be destroyed. Methods are indicated whereby the structure formation and structure alteration processes in porous salt formations can be influenced. It is suggested that these measures can inhibit or retard the decomposition processes by physical means.
