After describing the physical nature and construction of these scrolls as used by Algonquian Indian groups in North America, the article discusses methods of relaxing and unrolling them, repairing damage and mounting for display. Both traditional methods and those developed by the Canadian Conservation Institute and the Glenbow Museum are noted. Environmental conditions favorable for conservation of the scrolls and protective methods for their storage are suggested.
