Abstract

Ice cores from the Quelccaya ice cap (southern Peru) have been studied for particle concentrations and conductivity. Two major dust episodes ( ~ 130 years each) occurred at AD 920 and 600, and correlation with oxygen isotope and net accumulation records in the ice suggests a link with contemporary agricultural activity. -- AATA
