Sever displacement of the stone ribbing in the lierne vaulting of the Berkeley Mausoleum in Gloucestershire (England) prevented the erection of any direct propping. A platform at springing level of the ribbing was erected on an a frame structure to transfer the loads to the foundations of the chancel and external walls of the chapel. Expanded polyurethance foam was then used between the vault and a timber structure erected above the level platform. After structural stabilization of the vault and removal of supports, work started on the two internal funerary monuments, which were dismantled, repaired, and reassembled section by section.
