Abstract
A description of the conservation treatment of the wall paintings in the Sheesh Mahal Palace of Nagaur Fort (Rajasthan, India): removal of surface dust; removal of dirt with a scapel; removal of water stains with CMC paste; treatment of bulging plaster by injecting either a casein-lime mixture or a polyvinyl acetate emulsion (Fevicol); lacunae filling with lime plaster; consolidation of flaking paint with a polyvinyl acetate solution; filling of crack with marble and lime dust putty; removal of oil and grease stains; removal of graffiti; reconversion of lead pigments which had turned black. The treatment has been a success. Photographs.
