Abstract
Neutron activation autoradiography is a method for investigation of paintings to reveal artists' techniques. In this study it is applied to a picture by the Dutch artist Esaias van de Velde * 2Gesellschaft beim Mahle auf einer Gartenterrasse*1 (on canvas, 43 x 47 cm, about AD 1613). The method was chosen to provide insights into the genesis of a painting by showing pentimenti and changes in original conception. -- AATA
