Four bone tools found on a river bank in Old Crow Basin, in the Yukon Territory, Canada, were radiocarbon dated in the 1960's and determined to be 30, 000 years old. This was used as evidence of early human occupation in North America. However, new dating by accelerator mass spectometry (AMS) indicate a much younger age for these objects, from 1350-3000 years old. Reasons for the discrepancy are discussed briefly in the article. -- AATA
