This paper reviews the derivations and assumptions necessary for appli cation of Fickian diffusion in wood. An equation is developed to predict nonsteady-state concentration. Based on Fick's Laws, the fundamental requirements for experimental measurement of the moisture conductivity in wood -- sample size, hysteresis, gradient size, and surface resistance-are examined. -- AATA
